For AJ’s 5th Birthday we decided that we would go for a family visit to the Armagh Planetarium.
On arrival we were greeted by the staff members who printed our tickets for the show we had booked to see later that morning. We took a walk around the museum where there was a multitude of things to do. We found the astronaut dress up area and AJ couldn’t wait to get in to costume.
We were informed that there would be a “Build Your Own Rocket” workshop which didn’t disappoint. We got our bottles, stone for ballast, nose cone and wings and got to work. After building the rockets we took them outside where they would be filled with water and shot off in to the sky.
AJ’s and Erin both had a go at launching their rockets.
After the fun outside we went in to the dome show to watch “Accidental Astronauts” which was a pretty cool 3d kids animation about a couple of school kids who went on a trip to a space centre and accidentally stumbled in to a rocket which took them in to space.
It was a lovely day outside so we ventured in to the gardens where they have a scale model of the solar system in the form of silver spheres.
We took a walk up to the observatory building, unfortunately we couldn’t go inside but it was nice to see.
We had a great day out and as AJ loves anything space related this place blew his mind. He can’t wait to go back.
